Woodblock prints
Japanese woodblock printing, also known as ukiyo-e, is a traditional Japanese art form that became popular during the Edo period (1603-1867).
The process involves carving an image into a piece of wood, inking this wooden carving and printing it onto special paper. The end result is an artwork with sharp lines and intense colors featuring scenes including landscapes, portraits and scenes from everyday life.
In the 19th century, the popularity of the prints increased in Europe and inspired artists such as Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet. Today, this traditional art form is appreciated by art lovers from all over the world.
All woodblocks in our webshop are authentic and originate from Japan.
