About the artist

Hiroshige II was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist who lived during the Edo period. He was born in 1826 in Edo (now Tokyo), Japan. He later became a pupil and adopted son of the famous ukiyo-e artist Hiroshige, and took over his master’s studio and name after Hiroshige’s death in 1858.

He continued to create works in the ukiyo-e style, focusing primarily on landscapes and cityscapes, which were popular subjects in the Edo period. Hiroshige II’s artistic style incorporated elements such as atmospheric effects, vivid colors, and meticulous details.
